I phoned early but there were no GP appointments available. Nevertheless I was given a Nurse appointment later that morning and, after reviewing an ECG, the Nurse rapidly involved Tanya, the GP at the time. Within minutes I was on the way to Addenbrookes in an ambulance.

Either the (old) ECG or my elderly heart made the ECG readings difficult to interpret. Fortunately the Nurse had Cardiology experience.

I would like to start by saying that the reception staff have all been very helpful and I do understand that mistakes can be made when busy and that I just want to highlight the impact it can have on a patient. I noticed a mistake with my prescription which may have been resolved quicker had the receptionist checked the spine and my dosages. I have been on the incorrect dose for a week now which has negatively effected my health and my ability to complete daily tasks. On top of this I am having to make a lot of phone calls to resolve the issue which causes high levels of stress/anxiety for myself. I am only having these difficulties because information has been incorrectly recorded by your staff when I gave details as a new patient. If it wasn't for how helpful and lovely the reception staff have been, I wouldn't be happy about moving to this surgery.

Listened to me when I repeatedly said the correct dosage, checked the spine when I initially questioned my diagnosis. Put me through to a more capable member of staff (don't know the name but I would question this particular nurse, didn't feel listened to on the call and didn't get the impression that she was competent enough to do her job)

Given wrong medication and no assistance from the surgery when I highlighted this. Told by a nurse practitioner I was being medicated for a condition I have never been tested for or had diagnosed. Very worrying.

Make sure you read peoples' medical history before phoning them. Make sure you prescribe the right medication, and when someone phones for help when a mistake has been made, ensure they get to speak to a GP to rectify the situation as a matter of urgency.
